Assembling the Tenways Ago X went smoothly thanks to many components like the rear rack and fenders already being attached. I was able to assemble the bike in under 30 minutes with ease. Installing the handlebars, front wheel, seat, and reflectors was straightforward. The only tricky part was attaching the front fender and ensuring it was straight.

While the basic assembly was simple, my Ago X required some post-assembly adjustments due to typical shipping impacts on pre-tuned components. Specifically, I needed to realign the brakes, which were knocked slightly out of position. More time was spent properly indexing the gears to get crisp shifting, which can be challenging for inexperienced bicycle owners. Overall, full assembly and necessary adjustments took approximately an hour.

Those new to bike mechanics or short on time may find value in paying a shop to do any needed post-assembly tune-ups. Once at speed on level ground, the Ago X settles into a steady cruising pace. It readily matches flow with other cyclists or vehicles on paved paths. A full battery holds momentum well up gradual inclines, too, before any taper in assistance.

RANGE TEST & BATTERY CHARGING

We conducted multiple test rides on the Tenways Ago X to evaluate real-world range under different conditions. 

Flat Urban Riding – With occasional stops, average pedal assistance in Eco mode averaged around 30 miles before the battery indicator flashed 20% remaining. 

Hilly Recreation – Mixing hills, starts, and Tour mode chops range to approximately 22 miles before a low battery warning.

Aggressive Cycling – Frequent bursts up to max speed in Turbo mode drained the battery under 15 pavement miles. 

All estimates will vary depending on rider weight, pedaling effort applied, and external factors. But most users can expect the Ago X’s 36V 14Ah battery to provide reliably 25-40 miles per charge.

Charging couldn’t be simpler – just plug the included wall adapter into any standard outlet. A fully depleted battery charges to 100% in approximately 6 hours. If needed, a quick top-up of 30-60 minutes can replenish several added miles. Four status LEDs on the charger show charging progress. 

One more full cycle is achievable before needing several hundred further to reach the battery’s rated lifespan. Overall, the Ago X’s battery lifetime and convenient charging align well for most urban commutes on a single charge. Occasional top-ups maintain fresh power for longer recreational excursions too.

Reliable braking performance is an essential component of any bicycle’s safety. The Tenways Ago X features Tektro HD-275N hydraulic disc brakes suited to withstand the extra weight and forces of electric-assist riding.

To evaluate braking capability, we conducted intensive testing on multiple terrain types:
